Stripey Scarf

Sweet, simple scarf made in granite (or moss) stitch. I used Diva Dan's (of the Crochet Crowd) color combo in "Chic Princess" and Biscuits & Jam's random stripe generator to come up with the stripe pattern.

Materials used: 5 colors of worsted weight yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver in Black, Aran, Baby Pink, Charcoal, and Light Grey.
Size "I" crochet hook
Finished size 7 x 72 inches (approx)

Instructions:
With first color (A) - chain 31 (or however wide you want with an even number of chain + 1)
Row 1: sc in 3rd chain from hook, *ch1, sk next ch, sc in next ch. Rep from * across. Ch 2, turn
Row 2: sk first sc, * sc in next ch1 space, ch 1, sk next sc, rep from * to last space, sc in turning ch2 spac, ch 2
Repeat Row 2 for pattern changing color per stripe pattern (or as desired!)
Finish off and weave in all ends.

Stripe Pattern: The letter corresponds to the color and the number is the number of rows to crochet in that color.
Colors:
A - Baby Pink
B - Soft Grey
C - Charcoal
D - Aran
E- Black

Meemaw's Scrap Afghan

My husband's grandmother used to crochet and she stopped as she got older because she was unable to anymore. My sister-in-law sent me one of her unfinished afghans telling me I could do whatever I wanted with it. I thought it was a cute pattern and decided to finish it. I have no idea where the original pattern came from, so I just took creative liberty with it!

This is what was sent to me...

She had two finished strips and two unfinished strips. I spent a good hour or two trying to work out the pattern by unraveling one of the unfinished strips a bit and trying to match her gauge. After that was figured out, I made two more strips, bordered them all, sewed them together and made a simple border around the whole thing. I was quite pleased at how it turned out!

Afghan pattern:
Yarn: any worsted weight yarn in various colors and one main color for the accent stripes.
Hook size: H
Finished size 63in x 56in

Strip pattern (make 6):
Ch 32
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next ch, rep from * to end, ch1, turn
Row 2: sc in first sc, *dc in ch 1 space, sc in next sc, rep from * to end, ch 1, turn
Row 3: sc in first sc, *ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next sc, rep from * to end, ch 1, turn
Repeat rows 2 and 3 for pattern, changing colors as preferred until 61 inches long, ending with a "row 3" row.
Perform a main color stripe on a "row 2" row.

For border: Attach main color anywhere and sc evenly once around.
Whipstich strips together (make sure they are all facing the same direction!) and make a sc border around the entire blanket by sc evenly twice around.

I am a terrible artist but I am including a crudely drawn diagram:
