Basic Baby Hat
1.5 ounces of any worsted weight yarn (#4)
Hook size: H
Sized to fit 14 inch circumference (about newborn size)
Instructions:
Ch 3
rd 1: 11 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join with slst in top of ch 3 (counts as dc now and throughout)(12dc)
rd 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around , join(24dc)
rd 3: ch 2, 1 dc in same st as joining, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, rep from* until end, join (36dc)
rd 4: ch 2, 1 dc in same st as joining, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, rep from* until end, join (48dc)
rd 5-10: ch2, dc in each st around, join
rd 11: ch 1, TURN, sc in each st, back loops only, join
rd 12-13: sc in each st around, join, finish off.

thanks for sharing not only a great, quick pattern, for for getting the word out about making hats for charity. I donated over 150 hats, scarves and lapghans/baby afghans just before the holidays. It feels GREAT!
